How I do Pilates at SFINNX

20% Mobility // 60% Pilates // 20% Stretching

At SFINNX, I have distanced myself from the orthodox Pilates class but not from the Pilates exercises themselves. They are centre stage in our classes so that no core muscle gets left out in the cold!

But where Pilates alone, I feel, can lack dynamism, I use simple yoga asanas and mobility exercises to pick up the slack. This way your body will be mobilised, strengthened and stretched, all in one class. My goal is to help take you out of your head and into your body for the duration of the class, to feel your body and leave the mind behind. Cheek, charm and craic are always welcome in my classes!

My Philosophy

Confidence is sexy, it starts with your posture

At SFINNX the belief is to live an open-minded, dynamic and adventurous life. I feel my teaching style reflects this. Ultimately, I want to live my life as mobile and explorative as possible and help you to do the same. The Camino de Santiago or the Tongariro Alpine Crossing can't be graced with the presence of weak hips or a bad back. I hope to inspire people to keep their bodies youthful for as long as possible and to live their lives pain-free so that they can explore, be creative and have adventures. And to be vivacious and vibrant in the banalities of daily life too!

Meet Your Instructor

Hey, I’m Sarah

I have been a STOTT trained Pilates Instructor since 2009. I set up my business in 2010 and began teaching classes to the public and corporations in Dublin. Before this I used to answer calls to disgruntled customers with broken fridges and hobs, and before that I sold sandwiches and cans on a bike in Battersea. One sunny day in 2008, in a gym in East London, I decided to try a Pilates class. Pilates was just becoming ‘a thing’ in the fitness world. I must admit, I wasn’t overly enthused during the class. I thought it to be too slow and too bland. High intensity sports were always my jam. Well, the next day came and my body was in agony. A good agony. Muscles I never knew I had were coming out to say hello. I felt stronger, taller, more confident and I kept going back for more. And that was where my romance with Pilates started…

“Sarah, I love your classes! They take me outside the workplace immediately and you are fun in your chatter… what’s cooking for lunch, football practice, what’s in the news, and most importantly giving instructions on how to breathe and perform the exercise correctly. You have this amazing ability to keep the chatter and the instructions going, keeping our attention all the time. You are amazing!”
